1. SpellcastingA simple matter many may think, however amidst the hubbub and chaos of battle many a mage has lost his wits and therein his ability to use his magic well, or indeed at all. Therefore I find it necessary to cover the basics of spell casting in a heated situation. Firstly, Remember the Words to the spell you are casting! Fumbling around with a spell book whilst a bloodthirsty barbarian races towards you is an unwise plan, instead have a number of useful vocals memorised so you can use them in a heartbeat. Secondly, when employing these vocals, speak loudly and clearly, and with all the confidence a graduate of the Arcane tempest should be able to muster. Many foemen will falter upon hearing a mage pronouncing clearly and calmly in the face of peril, thinking you know something he does not and meaning they can clearly hear their doom approaching. Thirdly, Identify your target in a distinctive and clear manner, if noone knows to who you refer, it has been known for Arcane powers to fail and thus no target is affected, clearly a grievous error. Thus the Mage should avoid descriptions such as “you” instead gesturing clearly and using more detailed descriptions such as “You with the Eye Glasses” or “You with the Skull Shield”. Finally, Make sure you are not targeting a victim of a fellow Mage unless
this is the clear intent, if one foeman is blasted off his feet covered
in burning armour whilst his sword explodes into shards whilst three others
rush into a close melee, you and your fellows have failed in your duty
and will doubtless pay the price shortly. |
