Mage Apprentice 'Sir' Jason Braxley (aka 'Black-ball')
Jason is the fourth son of the noble house of Braxley. As the youngest it was clear from an early age that he wasn’t ever going to inherit much from his parents. In mind of this Jason was given a decent allowance by his father and sent off into to world to find his place. Much to his father’s disgust this turned out to be about 2 miles down the road at the Green Dragon where most of Jason’s allowance was spent on drink, gambling and women. After 2 months of indulging his son, Sir Braxley decided that something must be done and Jason was sent to train with the Grounds keeper and earn his keep in the employ of the family catching poachers and tending to the estate. Much to the surprise of all he turned out to have a natural aptitude for the job and an uncanny ability to prise the truth out of poachers and find lost animals by communing with ‘the spirits.’ Several years pasted in this career until one day his father invited a Mr Alistair Coleman Gunn to dinner and during the course of the meal Jason’s unusual abilities were mentioned. Gunn immediately spotted the latent Shamanistic ability within Jason and offered him a place in his soon to be formed regiment the Arcane Tempest. Jason Braxley was only too pleased to accept and departed at once for Santia, on arrival he was inducted into the scout corps where his skills could be best put to use. Jason Braxley was present with the Lions army in the summer of 1106, but was unable to attend the action in Cornwall due to an unfortunate event at home. A group of Brigands looking to make an easy pound raided the Braxley home and kidnapped Jason’s mother and killed his father during the attack. On hearing of this her four sons immediately launched a rescue attempt on their own, led by Jason’s magic and tracking abilities. Although Lady Braxley was rescued all three of Jason’s brothers were killed leaving Jason the unexpected title of Sir and lord of the Braxley estate. Having dealt with matters at home Jason returned to the Santia academy
just as the first reports of the latest battle were coming in. Being the
longest surviving member of the group Jason immediately sent every available
Tempest affiliate to reinforce the army and despite protesting to Gunn,
agreed to remain behind to help train the next batch of cadets at his request. |
